Maleficent, based on Sleeping Beauty, isn’t the only Disney film set for the big screen this year. Beauty and the Beast, directed by Guillermo Del Toro, is set for production, starring Emma Watson. Another, The Little Mermaid, is set for a live adaptation, which is to be directed by Sofia Coppola. Two actresses are eyed by fans for Ariel’s role, namely Emma Watson and Anna Kendrick, but who’s the greater pick? Late in February, reports claimed Watson and Daniel Radcliffe would join forces again. However, the reports were deemed false. Two weeks ago, it was confirmed that Watson was chosen to play the role of Ariel, but that’s not all… Prince Eric will be played by Radcliffe! However, it appears Watson has tough competition following Kendrick’s SNL stint. The Pitch Perfect star dressed up as Ariel and sung a few songs that definitely prove she’s worthy. Between them, who’s better to play the redheaded mermaid?
